  Overview
 

This Installation Guide is the starting point to install and use DirectFN TWS. Please read it carefully before you proceed with the installation.

  System Requirements
  Hardware Configuration
  Recommended hardware requirements for DirectFN TWS is given below. Please make sure that you have the recommended requirements before you proceed with the installation.
 
  • A 2GHz Standard PC (Dual Core recommended) with minimum 1 GB of RAM for Windows 2000, Windows 2003 and Windows XP with Service Pack 2.
  • -or-
  • A 2GHz Standard PC (Dual Core recommended) with minimum 2 GB of RAM (32 & 64 bit) for Windows Vista with Service Pack 1, and Windows 7 or 8 Professional.
  • 10/100 Network card if it is on a network or 56 kbps modem if it is a standalone PC.
  • 1024 x 768 screen resolution (software can run on higher or lower resolution). For optimum use, we recommend to use a 17” monitor and a minimum 1024 x 768 resolution.
 
  Note: This product has been tested on market-release versions of operating systems and web browsers. Therefore, the product may not be fully compatible with beta-release versions of the same.

  Software Pre-requisites
  Please make sure that you have the following pre-requisite software installed in your PC before you proceed with the installation of DirectFN TWS.
 
  • Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86).
  Notes:
  For Windows XP, Vista or 7
 
  • When you download DirectFN TWS Setup.exe from internet and try to install the application, the setup will check if Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 is already installed in your machine. If not, the setup will download Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 from internet and will continue the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 installation. Once the installation is completed it will continue the DirectFN TWS installation.
  • When you run DirectFN TWS Setup.exe from the Installation Disk, the setup will check if Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 is installed in your machine.  If not, the setup will install Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 from the Installation Disk. Once the installation is completed it will continue the DirectFN TWS installation.
  For Windows 8
 
  • When you download DirectFN TWS Setup.exe from internet and try to install the application, Windows 8 x32 & x64 versions do not support Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 by default. When you try to install Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0, an error message pops-up asking you to install .NET Framework 3.5 which includes Framework 2.0. As a solution for this, please follow the below two methods to install Framework 2.0 as specified in the given URLs.
  1. Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 - Netfx3 over online. Click “Download and install this feature” as specified in the message.

  2. Offline installing using Windows 8 installation CD by enabling specified option or executing a command line.

  Installing DirectFN TWS
 
  1. Insert the Installation Disk or locate the un-zipped folder, if you have downloaded the setup file from the internet.
  2. Double-click on the DirectFN TWS Setup.exe file to start the installation process.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen and proceed with the installation process.
   
  When installing DirectFN TWS it is recommended to install the application in C:\Program Files\DirectFN, which is the default location used by the setup.

  Username and Password
  You are provided with a username and a password to log on to the application. If your account is trading enabled, you are provided with a transaction password as well.
  Once you have successfully logged on to DirectFN TWS, you can change your login and transaction passwords at any given time.

  Connecting to DirectFN TWS for the first time
 

After successfully installing the application, the DirectFN TWS icon appears on the desktop.

 
  1. On the Desktop, double-click on the DirectFN TWS icon to open the application.
  2. Click the I Agree button to accept the User Agreement. The User Login window opens.
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. Optional: To save your login information, select Remember Username, Remember Password check boxes in the Login window.
  5. Click Ok to connect to the server.
 

If your connection is successful and you are receiving price information, the colour of the Price Connection Status and Trade Connection Status turn Green. Furthermore, you will see the Download button in the Status Panel.

  Changing the Login and Transaction Passwords
  The Login Password is used to log on to the application and the Trade Password (transaction password) is used when placing orders using the application.
 
  1. Click the Main menu button at the upper-left corner, click Change Password. The Change Password window opens.
  2. Type your current and new passwords in the relevant fields.
  3. Click Ok. If the password is successfully changed, a message opens confirming the action.
  4. ClickOk.

  Uninstalling DirectFN TWS
 

You may uninstall DirectFN TWS using one of the following methods:

   
  Method I
 
  1. Click the Start button and click Programs. Click DirectFN and then DirectFN TWS. Click Uninstall DirectFN TWS. The Installation Wizard opens.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen to proceed.
   
  Method II
 
  1. Click the Start button and click Control Panel. Click the Add or Remove Programs button. In the list of programs installed, select DirectFN TWS and click the Change/Remove button. The Installation Wizard opens.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen to proceed.
   
  Important
  For Windows Vista
  You must log on to Windows Vista as the Administrator to successfully uninstall DirectFN TWS from your machine.
Please note that a user without Administrative Privileges would not be able to successfully uninstall DirectFN TWS from the machine.
   
 

For Windows XP

  You must log on to Windows XP as the Administrator or have Sufficient Administrative Privileges to successfully uninstall DirectFN TWS from your machine.
